At the beginning of 2010, Esa-Pekka Salonen will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra for two concerts in London and Basingstoke with Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto (Soloist: Viktoria Mullova) and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, amongst other works (4/5 February 2010). Afterwards he will conduct Filarmonica della scala in Milan with different concert programs (22-24 Feb, 1/8 March) as well as performances of Janácek’s From the House of the Dead in the production by Patrice Chéreau (28 Feb, 2/5/9/13/16 March).

The project City of Dreams, a nine-month exploration of the music and culture of Vienna between 1900 and 1935 which Esa-Pekka Salonen devised and led in his first season with the Philharmonia Orchestra has been nominated for the ITV South Bank Show Awards. On Tuesday, 26 January 2010, the Award Ceremony will take place at The Dorchester, London.
