esapekkasalonen: @leifpagrotsky Det är en avskalad, enkel och ren men sensuell produktion tycker jag. Väldigt starka reaktioner hos publiken oftast.

Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts "Duke Bluebeard's Castle"

31 October 2011 | Return to News

Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in a production of "Duke Bluebeard’s Castle" – Bartók’s only opera. After performances in Birmingham, Lisbon and Basingstoke the opera can be seen in Madrid, London, Vienna, Dijon, Dortmund and Paris with Sir John Tomlinson as Duke Bluebeard and Michelle DeYoung as Judith.

The production has been created by the Philharmonia Orchestra in collaboration with digital artist collective Yeast Culture. Specially created films will be used as video projections onto unusual projection surfaces, surrounding the Orchestra as it performs Bartók’s score. These immersive projections create an evocative atmosphere that suggests the different rooms in Bluebeard’s castle and the emotions of the two protagonists.
